Author, teacher, coach, and speaker, Laura Robb has more than 40 years of experience teaching in grades 4-8. She coaches K-12 teachers in Virginia, New York City, Georgia, and Connecticut. Laura has written more than 20 books on literacy. Her latest book, Unlocking Complex Texts: A Systematic Framework for Building Adolescents’ Comprehension (Scholastic, 2014) provides teachers with detailed lessons for teaching reading and writing using the gradual-release model.

Other recent books include Vocabulary is Comprehension (Corwin ) which provides teachers with more than 50 complex texts and 30 ready-to-use vocabulary lessons and Teaching Middle School Writers and SMART WRITING. (Heinemann). Laura has designed classroom libraries for Scholastic for grades 3 to 9 and co-developed XBOOKS, nonfiction print and online texts on themes such as forensics, tyrants, war and medicine for middle school. Laura is a keynote and featured speaker at conferences all over the country and in Canada on language arts at all grade levels.
