Leah Kuypers, M.A. Ed., OTR/L is the creator of The Zones of Regulation®, a framework to teach self-regulation. She is the author of the book and app by same name (2011, Social Thinking Publishing, 2014, Selosoft Inc.). An occupational therapist who specializes in autism, Leah has practiced both in school and clinical settings and has worked with students of all ages and challenges. Her practice is focused on self-regulation and social-emotional learning.
Leah provides trainings and consultation to parents and professionals on self-regulation and challenging behavior. She has conducted workshops on the Zones of Regulation to districts and organizations across North America. The Zones has been featured as a Promising Practice in Attention magazine, published by Children and Adults with Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (CHADD), as well as highlighted in American Occupational Therapy Association newsletter. Leah earned a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, a Graduate Certificate in Autism and a Master of Arts in Education from Hamline University in St. Paul, MN. She currently resides in Minneapolis, MN with her husband, son, daughter and dog.
