Paul Bambrick-Santoyo is the Managing Director of Uncommon Schools Newark, which comprises nine North Star Academy schools. During Paul’s 11 years at North Star, the schools have seen dramatic gains in student achievement, making them among the highest-achieving urban schools in New Jersey. The schools have won wide recognition, including the National Blue Ribbon Award from the U.S. Department of Education.
Author of Driven by Data: A Practical Guide to Improve Instruction, Leverage Leadership and Great Habits, Great Readers, Paul has trained more than 9,000 school leaders worldwide in instructional leadership. Among the participants are school leaders who have led their schools in becoming the highest achieving or most improved schools in their districts.
Prior to joining North Star, Paul worked for 6 years in a bilingual school in Mexico City, where he founded the International Baccalaureate program at the middle school level. He earned a B.A. in Social Justice from Duke University and his M.Ed. in School Administration via New Leaders for New Schools from the City University of New York—Baruch College.
