William Sterrett, Ph.D, is a former school principal and middle grades science teacher. He serves as an educational leadership faculty member and program coordinator at the University of North Carolina Wilmington. Bill received the Milken National Educator award as principal and is the author of the ASCD books Insights into Action (2011) and Short on Time (2013).
With a focus on the theory and practice of instructional leadership, he has researched, taught and written about collaborative teaching communities as well as school and teacher leadership. Bill has worked with educators on the school, district, regional and state level and has presented at numerous state, national and international conferences. He earned his Ph.D in Educational Administration and Supervision from the University of Virginia and his B.A. in education from Asbury University, Wilmore KY.
