Nationwide, more than 400,000 students in grades 6-12 have taken the Quaglia Institute's "My Voice Survey"(distributed by Pearson) which gauges students' feelings and beliefs about their school's learning environment. The "My Voice Survey" results from across the country have helped the Institute to define and refine its principles for raising student aspiration. Sadly, results show that as students get older their sense of self-worth, engagement and connection with school decreases, with significant declines during and after the transition from middle school to high school.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER:
Michael J. Corso holds a doctorate in education from Boston College. He has been an educator for 25 years and has taught at every grade level, kindergarten through graduate school. As director of field services and senior field specialist for the Portland, Maine-based Quaglia Institute, Mickey combines research on student perceptions of their schools with educational theory and the living, breathing practice of students, teachers and administrators. He has worked throughout his career to improve teaching and learning through teacher training and education.
