SNAPSHOT: Good, bad or average teachers have a significant impact on student learning. Stanford economist Eric Hanusek has estimated that students in the class of a very good teacher will learn a year and a half's worth of material while the students of a very bad teacher will learn an average of a half a year's worth of material.

What can you do make more of your teachers expert teachers? How can you help more of your teachers join the ranks of the "year and a half teachers"?

One strategy for administrators and teacher mentors is to work with a tool that has deeply resonated with teachers as a guide in their own professional development, Charlotte Danielson's Framework for Teaching.

Join Charlotte for a special 90-minute webinar on how to work with teachers on their professional growth using her research-based framework that is built on the 4 domains of teaching responsibility:

  • Planning and preparation
  • Creating a classroom environment
  • Instruction
  • Professional responsibilities.

The Framework may be used for many purposes, but one important use is to stimulate professional conversations among practitioners as they seek to enhance their skill in the complex task of teaching. Many schools and districts use it as a foundation for mentoring, coaching, professional development, and teacher evaluation processes, thus linking all those activities together and helping teachers become more thoughtful practitioners.

WEBINAR TOPICS: Charlotte will discuss how to use the framework most effectively in:

  • teacher preparation
  • supervising student teachers
  • teacher recruitment and hiring
  • mentoring beginning teachers
  • structuring professional development
  • evaluating teacher performance

The presentation will include several short pauses to give attendees plenty of opportunities to participate and ask questions.

NOT SURE YOU CAN MAKE THE LIVE EVENT? No problem. We'll send you a link to the audiovisual recording the next day so you can listen and view the PowerPoint on your computer at your convenience!
